Questions & answers about payment

How are card payment fees structured?

There are different models for processing card fees, primarily the Interchange++ model and the Blended model.
In the Interchange++ model, fees consist of three main components:

1. Interchange fee: Charged by the issuing bank of the card (Issuer). This fee varies depending on factors such as the country of issuance and the card type.

2. Card scheme fee: Levied by credit card networks like Visa or Mastercard. It depends on factors such as the card type, authorization fees, and fraud prevention.

3. Acquirer fee (processing fee): This fee is charged by the payment provider (Acquirer) – in this case, Gastronovi. You can find the specific Gastronovi Pay fees here.

The Interchange++ model is highly transparent, as it breaks down all three cost components in detail. With Gastronovi Pay, processing fees are fixed per card type, while interchange and card scheme fees are passed on at cost and cannot be contractually fixed.
In contrast, the Blended model includes all three fee types in a single rate.
